An anime festival Asia Malaysia 2012 press conference was held today 26th of April 2012 @ Federal Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Japanese pop culture has gained popularity here through the numerous performance staged by communities and fans locally. AFA is the region’s most established festival of its kind. It has grown for the past 4 years. Last year, it was held in Singapore announced that they will hold satellite events in various Asian countries. Malaysia was one of the countries identified. Over the past few months, all of us have been preparing for AFA Malaysia; the event is developed with Malaysian audience in mind- all the favorite characters, today hottest tittles in the local scene, and what the fans here want to see.
Mr Gaku Shinoda, the vice president of Dentsu Malaysia Sdn. Bhd in his speech said that there will be satellite event by SOZO during the event in Malaysia. It will be held in Tun Razak Hall 1 & 2, Putra World Trade Center on the 9th till 10th of June 2012.
Commenting about the event, Mr Vincent Foong, the managing partner of AFA said that this will be the first AFA in Malaysia. It will be one of its kinds. Several tiers of ticketing will be available depending on level of content the customer wishes to access. General festival tickets are priced (per day) at rm 15 per day , customer who wishes to access additionally stage contents from anime celebrities will need to purchase the festival + stage rm 30 ticket. For the access to concerts in the evening, customers will need to get the rm 88 (free standing) and rm 168(VIP seating). To make it more accessible for the fans, an RM 308 2 day VIP Package & RM 148 2 day standing package will also be available. Tickets selling will be announced at later date.

Previously in AFA Singapore, there were up to 82 thousand visitors attending the event in 2 days. Malaysians are the top rank of number one when it comes to visitors in AFA. Visitors to the event will be able to catch 6 japanese anisong performing over 6 hours in 2 days. The concert will be called ?super anisong genki? and featuring artist such as Kotoko, Sea ?A, Maon Kurosaki, FLOW and KALAFINA. A special cosplay championship will be held during the festival, the winner will represent Malaysia to compete at the Regional Cosplay Championship (RCC) which will be held in Singapore in November 2012.
Avid shoppers can look forward to original anime merchandise by Good Smile Company. Danny Choo himself announced that he will also be present for the event Bushiroad, the leading trading card game such as Vanguard series tournament will too be there. The moe-kana card will also be sold in their booths. Mr Mitsushisa Ishikawa, the producer for Ghost in a shell film will be present to share his experience. The Moe Moe Kyun Maid Cafe and Atelier Royale Butler Cafe will be available only at AFA Malaysia. It will be a memorable dining experience. Adding in something new, Ultramen Zone will feature life show from Ultramen Mebius and photo taking session.
Kaname, the cosplay celebrity also said that he is looking forward to meet all Malaysian Cosplay and Japanese culture lovers in AFA Malaysia. “I was here 20 years ago, when I was a kid. I am happy to see that the growth of Japanese interest in Malaysia has changed and grown so fondly. I will be happy to see you all there, jumpa lagi (KANAME saying it in Malay language) ” He said.
